Even with Avatar’s continued success and 3D Blu-Ray just around the corner, many see gaming as the core driver that will bring 3D to the home. Founded in September of 2009, The S-3D Gaming Alliance (S3DGA) represents the interests of game developers, display manufacturers, and technology enablers in this field.

"In cinema, everyone embraced 3D Blu-Ray, and cooperatively worked together to come up with a standard that would ultimately help sell movies. Gaming is the same. The game developers are not the means to sell products, they ARE the products. Our industry needs to realize this," said Neil Schneider, Executive Director of the S-3D Gaming Alliance.

Non-profit and non-proprietary, some of The S-3D Gaming Alliance’s top members include Blitz Games Studios, LG, Real D, DDD, iZ3D, The Game Creators, HDMI Licensing, and more. Advisory board members include Jon Peddie of Jon Peddie Research, Neil Trevett, President of the Khronos Group, and Habib Zargarpour, Consulting Art Director for Electronic Arts’ Need For Speed SHIFT.

S3DGA is also pleased to announce its latest affiliate member, Animation Magazine. Featuring a twenty-plus year history with animation professionals in gaming, cinema, and TV; S3DGA and Meant to be Seen members will qualify for a free digital subscription. Animation Magazine will also be promoting S3DGA membership to its game developer readers.

"We have to keep up with the times, and stereoscopic 3D gaming has a very important present and future. Game developers need a firm grasp of this technology, and this is a great opportunity for them to have a real say in how it moves ahead, " said Jodi Bluth, Animation Magazine’s publisher.

This offer is only available through links on s3dga.com and mtbs3d.com. The submission form is accessed after registering and logging in to mtbs3D.com, S3DGA’s consumer outreach division. All registrations are free and instantaneous.

An Animation Magazine representative will also be speaking at the upcoming 3D Gaming Summit taking place on April 21st and 22nd in Universal City, Los Angeles. The summit is the first conference that is nearly 100% focused on stereoscopic 3D gaming, and features top names like NVIDIA, Real D, Panasonic, Mitsubishi Electric, Jon Peddie Research, The S-3D Gaming Alliance, and more.

The S-3D Gaming Alliance’s next meeting will be held at the conference as well. In addition to feature speakers, S3DGA will outline its current goals and strategies as they relate to making S-3D gaming successful in the home. While this will be a private member-only meeting, all game developers are welcome to participate. Non-members can inquire about participation, but space is limited. All attendees are required to RSVP in advance.

"To maximize sales, 3D display manufacturers need to be ready for gaming, and game developers should be snatching up chances to cross promote and bundle their games with these content hungry innovators," said John Golicz, Co-Founder of the 3D Gaming Summit, and CEO, Unicomm."The 3D Gaming Summit and The S-3D Gaming Alliance are great catalysts
for this."
