Proctor & Gamble was the clear leader in nappies/diapers/pants throughout the review period and accounted for almost 37% value share in 2013. The company benefits from a strong global reputation for its Pampers brand, effective marketing support and wide distribution. In addition, Pampers offers a wide range of prices, offering basic products at prices undercutting many of its competitors while also offering premium products such as Pampers Premium Care. Parents can thus trade up and down within the Pampers brand as their disposable income levels permit. In 2013, thanks to rising disposable income levels, consumers mainly traded up. As a result, Pampers saw the strongest growth in value share in 2013 over the previous year, gaining half a percentage point. This was despite seeing only a marginal growth in volume share.
