Competitive Landscape

With a 34% total value share, Unilever led dishwashing sales in 2015, thanks to the leading position of its Sun brand in automatic dishwashing. Sun is the premier sales contributor in all three formats of automatic detergents as well as dishwashing additives. Reckitt Benckiser (16% value share) and Colgate-Palmolive (12%) were the two immediate challengers to Unilever.

Over the forecast period, dishwashing is set to record volume and value CAGRs of 1%. This growth potential is primarily linked to the low household possession rate of less than 60% for dishwashers; as per Euromonitor International’s syndicated research in consumer appliances, volume sales of dishwashers are set to record a CAGR of 1% over the next five years. Thanks to the successful valorisation strategy implemented by manufacturers, the outlook for dishwasher value sales is set to be slightly better than volume.
