New Market Study Published: Juice in Canada

Recently published research from Euromonitor International, "Juice in Canada", is now available at Fast Market Research

[USPRwire, Fri Jun 13 2014] Juice continued to slip into a decline in 2013: products are among the most expensive within soft drinks. In 2013, juice recorded 2% total volume decline, which was marginally higher than what was recorded over the review period. The reason for the deepening trend is not only rooted in the economic conditions but also in the consumer perception of packaged juice.

Competitive Landscape

Juice is quite fragmented and the top five companies Nova Trade OOD, Coca-Cola HBC, Balkan Beverages Co, Aspasia 92 OOD and Tymbark Bulgaria EOOD held combined off-trade value share of 50% in 2013. Both local and multinational companies compete for dominance in juice. The local companies compete on the basis of marginally lower prices, compared to the multinational brands such as Cappy, Pfanner and Rauch. However, the increasing production and operational costs levelled out prices in some categories such as reconstituted 100% juice. This is the reason for the intensive launch of cheaper products in juice drinks in 2013.

Industry Prospects

The forecast for juice is bright - the economic recovery and increased advertising activity of the top players are expected to reverse the negative volume development trend witnessed during the review period. As a result, total volume and total value (constant 2013 prices) CAGRs of 3% are expected, while during the review period they were -2% and -3% respectively. The trend towards buying naturally healthy products is expected to be stronger over the forecast period and juice will benefit from it. Manufacturers are likely to emphasise that juice is an easy and convenient way to secure the daily fruit intake.
