Psytechnics’ CTO and Founder to Speak at VoiceCon San Francisco
Psytechnics, a leader in voice and video performance management solutions for IT operations, today announced its presence at VoiceCon San Francisco, from November 10-13, 2008.
[USPRwire, Wed Oct 29 2008] Dr. Mike Hollier, CTO and Founder, will take part in a panel discussion titled “QOS and QOE” on Tuesday November 11th at 8:00 a.m. PDT. During the session Dr. Hollier will discuss the difference between QOS and QOE, why QoE is even needed and the difference it makes in being able to manage and accurately diagnose voice and video quality from a user perspective. IP Telephony users rate call quality as their number one concern and cite distortion as the most common problem they face. Enterprises and service providers must be able to understand and detect these issues in order to eliminate them quickly and first time around.
Dr. Hollier will also be speaking at the “Troubleshooting Converged Enterprise Networks” discussion on Wednesday November 12th at 2:45 p.m. PDT. Hollier will speak on the latest tools and technologies for managing and troubleshooting real time voice and video applications over IP as well as how to perform root-cause analysis, how to measure, monitor and manage voice quality, and proactively fix user experience problems right-first-time. Mike will focus on how operations and support teams can use the real time data generated by monitoring and management systems to deliver a highly accurate picture on the quality for each and every call and to pin point elements that are the cause of quality problems.
Psytechnics is exhibiting at the conference and demonstrating Experience Manager, the company’s solution for Voice and Video performance management at booth #621. VoiceCon is recognized as the leading event for enterprise decision makers who need to evaluate their options for migrating to IP telephony, converged networks and unified communications.
Dr. Mike Hollier has been the CTO at Psytechnics for six years and has been a pioneer in perceptual engineering for over sixteen years. Between 1987 and 1999 he held a number of positions within BT; through the 1990s he directed their research into audio, video and multi-media performance assessment. His PhD was gained from the University of Essex for his work on using models of human hearing to predict speech quality. His team created the award winning PAMS (Perceptual Analysis Measurement System) speech quality measurement method. Dr Hollier is a Chartered Engineer, twice winner of the Alan Rudge Award for Innovation, a fellow of the University of Essex and member of the IOA and AES.
