The International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) today announced VholdR, a wearable, hands-free camcorder, a 2008 bronze medal winner of the coveted design award. In a partnership with Ziba Design, an internationally recognized design firm, VholdR went beyond just a camcorder to make action video as simple as a single button to record and a single click to share the video online.

The International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) competition is a celebration of the most innovative and exciting product and product concept designs of the year and one of the world’s most prestigious design competitions. Business Week and the ISDA selected VholdR out of 1517 entries from over 25 countries. Thirty-five of the entries were awarded the coveted Gold award, while 77 received Silver awards and 93 won Bronze awards.

“VholdR allows anyone to capture video from within the action and share it in seconds. We designed it for people who lead active lives; to be sturdy while you ski, mountain bike, ride a motorcycle, or go flying on a roller coaster," said Jason Green, VP of Technology, of Twenty20, makers of VholdR. "Winning this award is a tremendous honor because it demonstrates the design value of functional, yet simple."

The VholdR camera, which retails at $349.99, breaks the mold of a traditional camcorder, by removing the need for your hands to record the action. It weighs just a few ounces and features a completely sealed brushed aluminum protective body that allows the camcorder to work in the rain, snow and mud. Small exterior grooves are designed to easily connect to various VholdR TRail Mounts™ allowing the camcorder to be attached to anything, anywhere. A single on/off button makes VholdR unbelievably simple to use.

The compact camcorder contains two-hours of memory and power in its self-contained housing. When the day is done, the VholdR software takes over, allowing the customer to download, watch, tag, and share their videos to, where thousands of customers are already sharing their video adventures from around the world.

"Our challenge was to deliver high-quality video in an integrated, compact camera that was wearable, easy to use and easy to share," said Sohrab Vossoughi, founder and CEO of Ziba Design. "The end result is an iconic product which allows sports enthusiasts to capture compelling video from within the action with a touch of a button, and share it with an online community as soon as the camera is connected to a computer."
