Dermatologicals along with many other categories has suffered from sharp price growth caused by the drastic appreciation of the US dollar against the Uzbekistani som. However, economic sanctions imposed by the West on Russia, which have strongly hit the country’s economy, have made Uzbekistani migrant workers return to Uzbekistan. This has influenced sales dynamics in dermatologicals, which has remained growing albeit at a slower pace than expected.
Competitive Landscape
Johnson & Johnson Inc and Radiks NPP led sales of dermatologicals in 2015, holding a 19% and a 16% share of total retail sales respectively. Johnson & Johnson benefited from its big product portfolio, consisting of Johnson’s Baby (13%) and Nizoral (7%) ??" the most popular medicated shampoo ??" which ensured the leadership of the company. Meanwhile, Radiks NPP took advantage of its only brand, Radiks (16%), having the most competitive prices and the widest distribution. This was the most sold brand in 2015. Novartis AG held 15% of total retail sales in 2015. Its Fenistil (9%) brand was the most popular topical allergy remedy.

Industry Prospects
Dermatologicals will benefit from stability in trends over the forecast period: the share of lower-priced products predominantly supplied by domestic companies will continue growing, encouraging more consumers to buy. During the forecast period, the range of domestic products is expected to increase as well, as manufacturers will not only supply generics, but also introduce domestic/affordable alternatives of the most sophisticated dermatologicals. However, a high outflow of people from the country will hamper the steady growth in demand. Hence, sales will increase slowly over the forecast period.
