Domino’s Pizza (including franchisees) led 100% home delivery/takeaway in GBO terms with a 19% value share in 2014. This leading operator accounted for 11% of all the outlets in the country and 13% of overall transactions. In 2014 Domino’s Pizza saw its value sales increase by one percentage point, largely due to the opening of 13 new stores. In addition, French consumers continued to purchase pizzas; this was favourable to the performance of this player. In order to improve loyalty and attract new consumers, the company also enhanced its home delivery and take-away services, which are largely used by people in urban areas. After the order, Domino’s Pizza contacts customers via mobile phone, allowing them to track the progress of their pizza and consequently to reduce the time spent queuing. In this way, it was responding to consumers’ desire to be informed of the progress of their order. According to a survey undertaken by Trackin, a specialist in geolocation delivery, one in two people in France shows interest in following their order in real time.
