Chicago 60s Pop Rock band, The Buckinghams, will be featured entertainment at the Riverwalk Amphitheatre in Montgomery, Friday, April 10.

[USPRwire, Wed Mar 18 2009] The Buckinghams are featured entertainers for the “Back to the 60s Reunion, Volume 1,” at the Riverwalk Amphitheatre in Montgomery, Alabama, Friday, April 10. This 60s pop rock band from Chicago was featured on The Ed Sullivan Show, American Bandstand, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, Good Morning America, and were named Billboard Magazine’s “Most Listened to Band in America” in 1967. The event is a benefit concert for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), a nonprofit organization, and includes entertainment by Jay and the Americans and The Grass Roots in this 60s reunion event.

The Buckinghams, million-selling Columbia Records/Sony artists, are best known for hits, including “Don’t You Care,” “Hey Baby, They’re Playing Our Song,” “Susan,” and “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” among others. Lead singer Carl Giammarese says, “The Buckinghams always enjoyed playing in Alabama in our cross-country tours of the 60s. We look forward to playing the Riverwalk Amphitheatre, to take our fans and friends back to great memories. This benefit is also important to us because we want to increase awareness that almost 1.4 million Americans suffer from Crohn’s disease and colitis. We applaud the CCFA for establishing national chapters to help patients and their families.” The band is best known for their #1 hit, “Kind of a Drag” and for originating the use of horns in their rock recordings, also made popular by bands including Blood, Sweat and Tears and Chicago.

Bass player Nick Fortuna notes, “When The Buckinghams perform, our audiences can’t resist getting up to dance. We enjoy putting on a high energy show.” In addition to their hits, The Buckinghams will perform solid gold 60s medleys from Three Dog Night, Motown, and Chicago, plus songs from their newest release, “Reaching Back.” The Buckinghams were recently signed to national label, Fuel Records and released 3 CDs in 2008 while maintaining a busy national concert schedule.

The band’s first tour in 1967 included over 300 dates. Giammarese said, “The Buckinghams reunited and have toured regularly again since the 1980s. We still play 70 to 80 dates a year, and enjoy performing with Jay and the Americans and The Grass Roots.” For ticket information for the Riverwalk Amphitheater, call 334-241-2100 or visit For more on The Buckinghams, see For more on the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, visit
