[USPRwire, Wed Aug 18 2010] ART SAN DIEGO 2010 with presenting sponsor UBS, announces “The Art of Wine and Food,” spotlighting women chefs of the pacific rim, featuring chefs, Carrissa Giacalone, Molly Kruger and Ana Laura Martinez. This exclusive dining opportunity allows guests to enjoy a five-course meal featuring the unique styles of three acclaimed chefs from different regions on the West Coast, from Baja to Orange County. Each chef will create a course paired with wine from their region. The dinner will take place at Vela Restaurant, the signature restaurant of The Hilton San Diego Bayfront.
Chef Carissa Giacalone, Hilton Signature Chef, will host two visiting chefs: Ana Laura Martinez Gardoqui, Founder and Director of the Culinary Art Institute in Tijuana, and Molly Kruger, Executive Chef at Chef Molly Culinary Artistry. The dinner is scheduled for Friday, September 3, 2010 from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets are $225 and can be purchased at http://artsandiego-fair.com or by emailing: email@example.com. Chef Carrisa Giacalone, from Hilton San Diego Bayfront, is a featured contestant on “The Next Food Network Star.” Carissa attended the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu culinary institute. After graduating with a degree in both French cuisine and French Pâtisserie (pastry), she honed her culinary skills under the tutelage of some of Paris’s premier chefs and patissieres, including Jean-Louis Nomicos at Lasserre, Laurent Duchene and Pierre Hermé.
Chef Ana Laura Martinez Gardoqui is Founder and Director of The Culinary Arts School in Tijuana, Baja California. She holds degrees in gastronomy and administration from Pan America University, Mexico City and is a Certified Sommelier. As a teacher of the culinary arts she melds the traditions of European technique and the Indian origins of Mexican cuisine. She insists on authenticity of ingredients from farm to table, which with command of technique results in dishes pleasing to the palate and the eyes.
Chef Molly Kruger, is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. Currently, she is Chef and CEO of Molly Culinary Artistry and Molly Catering, Laguna Hills. She moved to Orange County in 1995 following a cooking stint in San Francisco’s restaurants.
