Americana Music Association Announces Addition of 650AM WSM to Americana Radio Panel

[USPRwire, Fri Feb 27 2009] The Americana Music Association has announced that legendary Nashville radio station 650AM WSM will be officially added to the Americana Music Radio Panel starting Monday, March 2, 2009.

"It's always an honor to be accepted as a member to a radio panel of premier broadcasters. WSM's contribution to the Americana Chart is evidence that quality artists have a platform to reach a national and international audience at 650AM and," says WSM Program Director Joe Limardi.

Compiled from the respective charts of approximately 70 stations across the United States, the Americana Airplay Chart is published in R&R Magazine in the U.S. and Country Music People in the UK. Additionally, posts the Americana Airplay Top Ten on their website, giving the chart a prominent point-of-sale presence online.

"We love the fact that WSM is mixing in Americana artists with their more traditional country acts," says Jed Hilly, Executive Director of the Americana Music Association. "Not only is it cool, but its exciting and creative programming as well."

The new generation of WSM will prominently feature Americana music on both 650AM and their daily programming at Averaging a quarter-million online listeners monthly, artists will benefit from access to a global audience that was previously unreachable. As WSM expands its online initiative, the station will also offer pre-programmed channels on its website, featuring a variety of formats unavailable on the terrestrial stream.
