5 Year Old Concert Pianist and Child Prodigy, 74 Years Later..

Orlando Otey has released a masterful collection of some of Chopin's best works on his recent CD. As a child prodigy, Otey started his studies in music at the age of 2. He was born in 1925!

[USPRwire, Mon Sep 14 2009] Orlando Otey was born in 1925. Since he was two and a half years old, he began his musical studies under the guidance of his mother. During his youth, Otey was recognized as a child prodigy in his homeland of Mexico and beyond. At the age of five he played his first public concert. By the age of only seven years old, he had performed in major cities throughout Mexico, and Europe. Now, Orlando Otey's performances can be heard on his wonderful CD release called "The Chopin of Mexico Plays Chopin".

The recent album by Orlando Otey features a variety of works by the famous composer Chopin. Reviewers previously nick named Otey as "The Chopin of Mexico" throughout his long career as a Concert Pianist. This nick name was given not only because of his playing abilities, but because his piano compositions have a Romantic style similar to Chopin's music.

At age 17, Otey became the youngest faculty member at the University of Mexico School of Music. Soon after he decided to pursue piano and composition studies at The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. During that time he studied with Gian-Carlo Menotti and Vladimir Sokoloff! That was only what seems like the beginning of his long, and honorable career.

While Otey performs many songs by classical Artists such as Chopin, Debussy, Back, and others, he also plays his own unique and original compositions. Pianist Michi Tashjian expresses, "This playing comes straight from the heart, it is so lyrical and has an intimacy as if he is playing just for the listener." Additional music reviews, and CD purchase are now available online at CDBaby.com!

Orlando Otey is an Artist with a long history of concerts, and teaching. He is known as Dr. Otey to his many students. Dr. Otey is known for the "Otey Music Theory", which is based on Nine Music Patterns. This lifelong project depicts his discovery of the Musical Key and Key Formula, Extension Staffs, and other innovative concepts in Tonality, Modality and piano techniques.

With his recent CD Release, Orlando Otey's performances can now be heard beyond his live performances. With 17 incredible tracks, this album is loaded with masterpieces! For more information about "The Chopin of Mexico" visit http://www.chopinofmexico.com
