Air care is considered to be a complimentary product in Peru and is traditionally only used by upscale households, as middle-income households found this product unaffordable. However, over the course of the review period, rising consumer budgets, stronger advertising and increased availability of different packaging sizes and formats boosted sales. Middle-income Peruvian consumers are progressively beginning to demand air care as they want to provide a pleasurable fragrance to their homes after cleaning. As a result, air care posted 8% growth in current value terms, in 2013, which was marginally below the performance observed the previous year.

Competitive Landscape

There are three key players in this arena; SC Johnson & Son del Peru SA, Intradevco Industrial and Clorox Peru SA, with 30% value share for the two first companies and 26% value share for the latter in 2013. These companies benefit from a good reputation achieved by participating in other home care categories. In addition, they support their brands with advertising, have a good distribution network and usually engage in product innovation.
