[USPRwire, Tue Jan 10 2006] Trainer1, one of the UK's leading independent e-learning specialists, creating sophisticated courseware for learning, has built and delivered an e-learning program - on operating SAP Business Warehouse - for Insight, the IT solutions section of Deutsche Post DHL. The program, developed for the company's headquarters in Bonn, Germany, was developed - from scratch - within three weeks and rolled out towards the end of December 2005.
Neil Lasher, managing director of Trainer1, explained: "The program was developed using a new style of design, called 'InfoLearn', which Trainer1 originally developed to help it produce a number e-learning programs for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) in the UK.
"Over the ten years or so that Trainer1 has been developing e-learning programs, the skills and experience that we have built up have led us to conclude that learners want to use e-learning as a 'knowledge tool', being able to dip in and out of the material.
"This realization caused us to develop the program for Deutsche Post DHL so that learners can access it in two ways", he said. "Either they can use it as a conventional course - starting at the beginning and going through to the post-course online assessment - or they can use the material as the ultimate online reference tool, dipping in and out of the material as they wish, to find out what they want".
Trainer1's 'InfoLearn' technique is similar to the company's increasingly successful Context Sensitive LearningT (CSLT) but, whereas CSLT deals with extremely short pieces of learning to meet the needs of the task in hand, InfoLearn encompasses greater amounts of potential learning material. Lasher added: "Unlike CSLT, Infolearn is not task based but, rather, is a knowledge-delivered workflow learning tool".
Trainer1's InfoLearn technique makes e-learning materials available to learners to read like a book: they can either read the 'book' from the start or use an 'index' to dip and out of learning materials, almost at random.
"Presenting the learning materials in two ways make them not only more accessible but also more acceptable to learners", said Lasher. "InfoLearn enhances the developer's armoury of workflow learning tools and techniques, enabling programs such as the one that Trainer1 has produced for Deutsche Post DHL, to be delivered swiftly, on time and well within budget".
