Marcos G. Ronquillo, Managing Shareholder and Chief Operating Officer of Dallas-based Godwin Ronquillo PC, will speak on the continued importance of diversity during the economic downturn during the American Bar Association’s National Conference on Equal Employment Opportunity Law.

The national conference, presented by the ABA’s Equal Employment Opportunity Committee, will be held March 24-27 at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio. Mr. Ronquillo is one of two attorneys invited to speak during the Diversity Luncheon scheduled for March 24, along with Fred W. Alvarez of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P.C., in Palo Alto, Calif. Attorney Julie Richard-Spencer of Metairie, La.’s Robein, Urann, Spencer, Picard & Cangemi, APLC, will serve as moderator.

“The downturn in the economy has forced many law firms into making deep cuts in order to survive,” says Mr. Ronquillo. “However, in order to come out of the cuts a better, more efficient firm, extreme care must be taken to preserve the diversity of the legal staff. Having an inclusive, diverse culture helps keep you from falling into a cycle of same-thinking that hampers your ability to move forward.”

The ABA National Conference on EEO Law brings together employee, management, union, and government counsel, providing a unique blend of distinct perspectives in discussions related to current legal and policy developments involving equal employment opportunity and related workplace claims, as well as litigation and trial practice strategies.
