Global Workforce Survey Reports 7 of 10 Employees Improperly Trained

A global eLearning supplier for WealthBridge Connect, SkillSoft, Inc., recently released the findings of a global survey indicating seven out of 10 workers reported they had not received proper training before being asked to accomplish a task.

“These findings are not that surprising,” said Dr. J. Gregory Gillum, Chief Learning Officer of WealthBridge Connect. “In fact, this study simply reinforces what we already know is happening in the workforce, and the need for training. Management training is inadequate, and there is a clear and defined need for customized eLearning platforms, training tools, and applications that combine competency with speed of delivery.”

The global workforce survey of 6,100 respondents (2,100 from Europe and 2,000 from the US) was conducted by OnePoll, an online market research company, and took place between October 2007 and June 2008.

Most managers in the US and Europe are consistent in their concerns. Managing people, project management, technical tasks, and leadership were consistently ranked in the top four problem areas in which these managers felt they were inadequately trained.
