Ballantyne Center for Dentistry have participated in the missions of Mercy free Dental Care Clinic that was held in Charlotte NC.
[USPRwire, Tue Dec 18 2012] The event was held 6am Friday- through 6pm Saturday, December 8th to 9th .
The drive was open to individuals 18 years old and older who must sign income statements verifying that they don't earn more than 200 percent of the federal poverty level. Last year, the program served 2,100 people. This year was a similar number (a little over 2,000.) As many as one thousand people were waiting in line Thursday and Friday, for the clinic to begin. By 6:30pm Friday night, the clinic had to close its doors to more people, turn away the rest waiting outside so it could focus on the 2,000 plus people they had let in the doors. Over all the event turned out successfully with at least $ 1.1 million worth of free dental care provided.
Volunteer turn out was strong. Dr. Christian Yaste and Dr. Joe Hufanda volunteered the overnight shift, along with many of their dental team members. The free dental clinic provides services such as fillings, teeth cleaning, teeth removals and partial dentures to those who can't afford the care. Ballantyne Center for dentistry believes in the spirit of volunteerism and have joined in the same drives before and will continue in the future.
