LogicaCMG Selected by Optimus for IP Applications Platform
Platform to provide voicemail, videomail and avatars to encourage video uptake
[USPRwire, Wed Feb 14 2007] LogicaCMG, the leading global provider of voicemail and messaging to network operators, today announced that the Portuguese mobile operator Optimus has implemented their Media Services Platform to provide IP voicemail and videomail to its customers. The platform will also support avatars for system prompts on Optimus’ videomail service. Avatars are graphical or object-based video clips that will enhance the user experience and help drive videomail uptake.
LogicaCMG’s Media Services Platform includes full-featured, carrier-grade, next-generation messaging, real-time communication and personal information management services. Built using fundamental Internet protocols, the architecture is modular, allowing operators to begin with voicemail or email and to expand the service as their requirements change and grow. In the future, Optimus can take advantage of the new IP platform to launch innovative advanced services as it can be expanded to provide advanced features such as unified messaging and a media services portal to its 2.6 million subscribers.
Optimus has recognized that by introducing fun and personal elements it will make their video service more exciting. This is the first step towards encouraging user-generated content which will drive uptake of video calling in the future.
The avatars will be used for video prompts that are Optimus-branded and will offer subscribers the opportunity to use these for personal greetings, for example when leaving a videomail or menu searching. LogicaCMG’s system, designed in partnership with Vidiator’s Xend™ Messaging Platform, also enables Optimus to allow their subscribers in the future to create completely personalized avatars. This could include their image or their favorite celebrity, providing Optimus with an additional revenue generating opportunity.
