The Mountain View Alliance is an important venue to help SCOPE fulfill its goal of establishing widely accepted profiles for open specification based carrier grade base platforms
[USPRwire, Tue Apr 04 2006] SCOPE®, an alliance of leading Network Equipment Providers is the latest organization to join the Mountain View Alliance (MVA). SCOPE joins the Network Processor Forum, the Optical Internetworking Forum, PICMG®, the Service Availability Forum® and the RapidIO® Trade Association in the alliance, which provides a forum for the coordination of activities of its member organizations.
“The Mountain View Alliance is an important venue to help SCOPE fulfill its goal of establishing widely accepted profiles for open specification based carrier grade base platforms” said Timo Jokiaho, chairman of the SCOPE Alliance.
Rob Davidson, the PICMG representative to the MVA added, “SCOPE adds a new and very important perspective to the Mountain View Alliance membership, that of the user. They will have a very important role in this community.”
The Mountain View Alliance promotes an environment for coexistence and compatibility such that real applications can be created from COTS building blocks. Real life interoperability is a significant goal of the MVA and as such the Alliance members will work to harmonize their activities aiming to maximize impact, avoid gaps, overlaps and inconsistencies that might otherwise lead to inefficiencies, and contradictions. The group’s founding members have been holding regular meetings since December 2004.
