Plas-Tech Coatings Announces a New, FDA Approved High Performance Coating

The New Corrosion Resistant Product Satisfies Critical Requirements by the USP and FDA. A Broad Range of Uses for This High Performance Coating is Expected.

[USPRwire, Tue Oct 13 2009] Plas-Tech Coatings is excited to announce a new first in fluoropolymer coatings: PT-53. After extensive development and testing, Plas-Tech is introducing a coating that meets the standard for USP Class VI Plastic and is in full compliance with the US FDA food additive regulations in 21 CFR.

Plas-Tech’s PT-53 coating is a notable innovation, since this is the first fluoropolymer coating that meets both requirements. Traditionally, high performance coatings like DuPont Teflon® and Whitford Xylan® are compliant with US FDA regulations in 21 CFR, while a small number of others meet the requirements of a USP Class VI plastic. However, until now there has not been a coating that can meet both without extensive testing by the end user.

The potential applications of PT -53 are almost limitless. This fluoropolymer should be extremely useful in a variety of scenarios. Even so, it is the responsibility of the end user to determine the suitability or fitness of PT-53 for any specific application. The fact that PT-53 meets the requirements of a USP Class VI plastic will offer an added level of confidence when selecting which coatings to evaluate.
