[USPRwire, Mon Oct 22 2007] Mazu Networks, the leading provider of Network Behavior Analysis (NBA) systems, today announced a partnership with Riverbed Technology, the performance leader in wide-area data services (WDS). This alliance, through the Riverbed Technology Alliance (RTA) program, allows Mazu Networks to offer Riverbed® customers an innovative WAN visibility solution for accelerated WAN applications and traffic.

Riverbed customers that deploy Mazu Networks’ solutions will gain superior WAN visibility through the Mazu Profiler™ Network Behavior Analysis system, which provides a unique understanding of the WAN environment by automatically detecting meaningful changes from typical usage by interface, application or user. The visibility provided by Mazu Profiler, using network traffic flow exports from Riverbed’s Steelhead® WDS products and existing routers, allows customers to identify which links are the best candidates for acceleration and to analyze the WAN traffic by or between sites. The solutions enable rapid incident resolution by allowing the WAN manager to pivot the data view by user, interface, application, site or system.

Riverbed and Mazu Networks have tested the integration of their products to ensure simple and quick deployment in the field. Current customers, such as Willis North America, Inc., one of the world's leading risk management and insurance intermediaries, have already started to benefit from the alliance.

“Riverbed has made it possible for Willis to successfully consolidate global data centers into a single location,” said Eoghan Doyle, director, infrastructure and operations, Willis North America, Inc. “The acceleration provided by Riverbed’s solutions has enabled us to complete the consolidation while maintaining business application performance across international networks.”

“Mazu Profiler efficiently provides Willis with global network and WAN visibility by using our existing infrastructure,” added Doyle. “We get visibility into our WAN usage through inter-site reporting, end-to-end views and individual site views. This gives us the ability to see pre- and post-optimization views of the traffic on those links. This is important for a diverse company with as many locations as we have, as it enables us to intelligently deploy WAN optimization resources and quickly resolve WAN performance and security issues.”

“As the demand for improved performance of business applications over the WAN continues to grow, enterprises need to address response time and the costs associated with bandwidth consumption,” said Paul Brady, CEO, Mazu Networks. “Mazu Profiler enables enterprises to better deliver applications and manage infrastructure costs by accelerating WAN optimization efforts through enterprise-wide visibility of network traffic and WAN links. Mazu Networks is working with Riverbed to deliver to customers market-leading NBA that will allow enterprises to effectively cut costs, expedite projects and reduce the time required to resolve incidents.”

Riverbed’s WDS solutions enable organizations with more than one office to overcome a host of severe problems, including poor application performance and insufficient bandwidth at remote sites. By speeding the performance of applications between distributed sites by five, 50, and in some cases up to 100 times, Riverbed’s award-winning Steelhead WDS products enable companies to consolidate IT, improve backup and replication processes to ensure data integrity, and improve staff productivity and collaboration. Steelhead appliances have been deployed in organizations ranging from the world’s largest corporations with offices around the globe to small companies consisting of a couple local offices.

“Mazu Network’s NBA system further enhances Riverbed’s reporting solution, giving customers additional information about their WDS infrastructure, both in real-time and historically, for planning and incident resolution,” said Venugopal Pai, Senior Director, Alliances at Riverbed. “NBA’s ability to intelligently detect meaningful changes and automatically report relevant changes in the WAN environment is an innovative advancement in the best practices of WAN management.”

The RTA was launched in late 2006 to grow the community of applications, networking and storage vendors working to address the needs of distributed organizations. Alliance members work together to test and develop solutions to address WDS issues for customers.
