GITEX India Peaks With 9,873 Trade Visitors - Up 24%
Vendors @ Computer Shopper Report Business In Excess Of Rs. 3.5 Crores - Up 17%
[USPRwire, Fri Jan 13 2006] The Government of Andhra Pradesh's (GOAP) IT&C Department and organisers Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) announced a phenomenal increase in contracted business, retail sales, and footfall during the three-day event confirming the exhibition's growing prominence as a distinguished IT show.
The fifth edition of GITEX India has outgrown its role as a regional exhibition. The show this year covered a much greater expanse and attracted exhibitors from India as well as international exhibitors and the results have been very encouraging.
The show attracted a record number of trade visitors from the region including second-tier cities within the state as well as neighbouring states. The event also welcomed a number of international trade visitors including businessmen from USA, Europe, China, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong and the UAE among others. GITEX India the trade show at the time of going to press had attracted over 9,873 trade visitors recording a growth of 24% over the previous edition," she remarked.
GITEX India Computer Shopper recorded an exceptional increase in footfall for with over 41,575 visitors passing through the halls up by 141% on last year.
Sizeable deals were concluded during the three-day retail extravaganza and business generated during the show crossed the Rs. 3.50 crore-mark as thousands of consumers availed the 4% VAT rebate.
The presence of 95 companies from around the world including USA, UK, China, Russia, Malaysia and of course India among others at GITEX India has proved to be an important factor in raising awareness about AP's emergence as a preferred IT destination. In addition 43 exhibitors participated at Computer Shopper and did excellent business.
The show successfully demonstrated the GOAP's dedication to developing GITEX India and supporting the IT industry in the state by adding more avenues to the exhibition and enhancing the profile by conducting the IT awards this year as well as a series of major conferences alongside the show using the same venue."
Parallel Conferences organised by Industry associations on Human capital in the IT Industry; Hyderabad as a Knowledge Process off shoring destination; and a Low-cost manufacturing base in Asia Pacific; NASSCOM's conference on Animation and Gaming Industry, Hyderabad Software Exporters Association's workshop on Technology and HR and CII's Seminar on ITES & Electronic Hardware and TiE on AP as an Investment Destination were very well attended and appreciated by delegates.
The undisputed verdict from the exhibitors was that the event provided an ideal platform to network with the IT industry and trade professionals from throughout India as well as overseas.
Speaking on behalf of Dubai Internet City (DIC), Regional Sales Manager, Yusuf Alkhaja said, "Dubai Internet City is a strategic base for companies targeting emerging markets in a vast region extending from the Middle East to the Indian subcontinent, and Africa to the CIS countries. "Our participation at GITEX India was designed to attract inward investment into the UAE from the region and we have received a series of business inquiries over the three-day show including at least six that could result in positive business."
Mr. Alkhaja added that Dubai Internet City would continue to participate in GITEX India and even enhance its presence further in the 2007 edition of the show.
Feedback from visitors too has been very positive: Mr. Satyajit Dey from Calcutta was impressed with the wide range of products on display and found some of the technology very innovative.
Mr. B.M. Krishna, Assistant Manager with UCO Bank who has been a repeat visitor to the show for the last three years commended the organisers for improving the quality of the show as well as the exhibitors for coming up with superior products and services and said that the event is making its mark on the B2B segment.
An Army Captain, Nitin Rakheja was articulate in his praise of the GOAP and DWTC and remarked that GITEX India was a very well organised show and provided the visitor with all his IT needs under one roof.
