The 72-page documentation highlights the competition in German and English and gives architects, interior designers, furniture designers, colleges and universities interesting insight into the creative world of a rising generation of young talent from around the world.
It not only provides information on the international panel of judges and competition themes, but also presents a picture of competition entries. The prize-winning works from the first to 10th place in both the furniture and furniture hardware categories are documented in words and pictures. The review concludes with impressions of the award ceremony in Hettich International’s Architecture Lounge during Interzum 2007. The list of entrants and their colleges/universities demonstrates the tremendous commitment and dedication shown by global design students.
Held every two years since 1997, the Design Awards have so far attracted entries from a total of 4,700 students from 30 countries around the world. To date, well-known authorities with their expertise and eye for trends have selected no fewer than 87 prize-winners from 13 countries. These figures are an impressive testimony to the competition’s popularity. The notion of looking for creative ideas from around the world and thus furthering the up-and-coming designer generation will be continued in the spring of 2008 in a new call for entries for the next International Design Award.
