Hans Gatt Takes Second in Iditarod After Winning Yukon Quest

Dogsled racer Hans Gatt had a very good year wearing Northern Outfitters winter parka, snow pants, boots and mitten system. He won the 2010 Yukon Quest and took second in the Iditarod in unusually cold weather conditions.

[USPRwire, Sat Mar 20 2010] Northern Outfitters Pro-Staffer Hans Gatt, the record-breaking winner of this years’ Yukon Quest 1,000-mile dogsled race, has finished a strong second in the 2010 Iditarod. This was one of the coldest races in recent history, according to race officials, with sustained temperatures of -40F.

“It was brutally cold for the last 5 days of the race,” Gatt said at the finish. “I couldn’t have made it without my Northern Outfitters winter parka and other cold weather gear. I really felt sorry for the mushers who didn’t have it. Close behind Hans, in 4th place across the finish line in Nome, was Ken Anderson, another Northern Outfitters Pro-Staffer from Fairbanks, Alaska. Six Northern Outfitters Pro-Staffers finished in the top 20 of this years’ race, including 4-time Champion Martin Buser in 14th, Aliy Zirkle in 16th, Swiss musher Sven Haltmann with a strong run to 17th in only his second Iditarod race, and Paul Gebhardt coming in 19th. Still on the course today, but running strong, are Pro-Staffers Matt Hayashida, Allen Moore, Kristy Berrington, and Scotsman Wattie McDonald, who made good his promise to start the race ushered off by bagpipers and wearing a kilt.
