Tournament planners will focus efforts on bringing international soccer to Detroit during 2011 Presidents’ Day weekend.
[USPRwire, Mon May 24 2010] The United States Presidents’ Day Celebration Soccer Invitational Tournament Foundation announced today that the 2010 Green Soccer Bowl has been postponed until February 2011 due to unforeseen scheduling challenges.
Tournament organizers and representatives from participating teams were unable to secure the proper visas for players in time for the tournament, which was scheduled to take place on May 23, 2010 at the Pontiac Silverdome. A full refund will be given to anyone who has already purchased tickets for the tournament. Go to www.silverdometickets.com for refund instructions.
Pius Oleh, the tournament’s founder, is already developing plans for a larger international soccer tournament next year over Presidents’ Day weekend, February 19 – 21, 2011. Plans include an expanded list of participating countries and an increased number of matches for fans to enjoy.
“Having to cancel this year’s tournament was an extremely difficult decision, but complications with visas meant that we were unable to finalize travel arrangements for the participating teams,” said Oleh. “However, the potential of next year’s tournament is incredible. An increased number of teams will be at the center of a weekend-long celebration to excite soccer enthusiasts across Metro Detroit.”
Refunds for the 2010 Green Soccer bowl can be claimed at www.SilverdomeTickets.com or at the Silverdome box office.
