[USPRwire, Wed Dec 05 2007] As the holiday season approaches, Springdale Homes, the builder at The Preserve East Atlanta, DeKalb County’s first conservation community, is encouraging homeowners to stay connected in the local community. Choosing an organization located in East Atlanta, Springdale Homes is asking that new homeowners – and new home shoppers – donate new toys, art supplies and clothing to be given to The East Atlanta Kids Club.
Conveniently located to East Atlanta Village, Decatur, Little Five Points, I-75 and 85, and downtown Atlanta, The Preserve East Atlanta is a community of 131 distinctive craftsman-style homes priced from the high $200,000s.
The East Atlanta Kids Club is a nonprofit mentoring and enrichment program for children ages 7 to 13 who live in or near East Atlanta. Each year, the organization holds a holiday party and provides gifts to children who are part of the program. The organization relies entirely on donations from the community in order to make the party a success.
“At The Preserve East Atlanta, our neighborhood has become so much more than a place for homeowners to live,” said Beth Ann Clanin, the on-site agent at The Preserve. “There is a real sense of community here – between neighbors and others in the East Atlanta area. With the holiday season approaching, we wanted to encourage homeowners to give back. By partnering with a local charity we hope to show our support for a community where many of our residents will call home for years to come.”
The donations will be accepted at the professionally decorated model home at The Preserve East Atlanta. Donations will be accepted through Friday, December 7.
Founded in 1998 by neighborhood volunteers, The East Atlanta Kids Club now engages about 115 children and 150 adult volunteers on a year-round basis in recreational, cultural and educational activities. The club currently meets on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and on Saturday mornings at Brownwood Park Recreation Center. Children participate in art and writing projects, learn computer and multimedia skills, learn about history and current events, and play a variety of games inside the center. Outside, they play basketball, kickball, tennis, and engage in other fun team-building activities. Once or twice a month, the club goes on field trips to museums, theaters, nature parks, and other recreational and cultural venues. The club also has a one-on-one mentoring program, The Friendship Connection.
Homeowners at The Preserve East Atlanta enjoy taking full advantage of the community’s beauty, with community parties and informal gatherings. Residents can almost always be seen out and about walking their dogs or relaxing on the large front porches that are incorporated in to each home design.
