[USPRwire, Wed Nov 07 2007] An employee of Sharp Residential, Elizabeth Noll, recently participated in the Atlanta 3-Day Walk to help do her part in finding a cure for breast cancer. With the support of Sharp Residential, Noll was able to raise the minimum of $2,200 to participate in the event which was held October 12 through 14.
Noll is a seasoned veteran when it comes to the walks for Breast Cancer. This was her second year participating in the Atlanta event, and she plans on commuting to Washington, D.C. and Tampa Bay next year to participate in the 3-Day Walks in those cities. Last year she walked in Atlanta and was a crew member this year where she encouraged walkers and helped with the organization of the event in whatever way she could. In Washington, D.C. next year, she will be volunteering again – this time as a crew leader where she will help set an example for other crew members.
“As a crew member this year, I hugged nearly every person who was walking,” said Noll. “It was such an awesome experience to help out with the event, but I really enjoying walking as well. As a walker, I got to experience the satisfaction of completing the walk and meeting an array of fascinating and kind people. It is an incredibly gratifying way to support such a great cause, and I am looking forward to walking again next year in Tampa Bay.”
The Atlanta 3-Day Walk starts at NorthPoint Mall in Alpharetta and concludes at Piedmont Park. Participants are to walk 20 miles per day, sunrise to sundown, and can leisurely stroll at their own pace. After sunset, the walkers camp out each night with tents and sleeping bags. All walkers are given a training regiment prior to the walk, as the distance is rather intense. “Last year, I walked well over 90 miles leading up to the 3-Day Walk. It was interesting too, because I noticed things in my own town that I had never noticed before when just driving by,” said Noll.
The 12 Breast Cancer 3-Day walks held around the country this year will generate millions of dollars to fund critical beast cancer research and community outreach programs. It is a 60-mile walk for women and men who want to make a personal difference in the fight against breast cancer. Participants commit to fundraising (a minimum of $2,200 to walk), training and dedicating an entire weekend to the cause. For more information about the Breast Cancer 3-Day, visit www.the3day.org.
