Day one of this auction features the décor of the estate’s two guest homes as well as exterior furnishings and statuary. The main home furnishings as well as the real estate will cross the auction block on day two of this live auction webcast.

The estate is located at 7110 N. Central Avenue in Phoenix, AZ. Built by Cindy McCain’s parents in 1951, Senator and Mrs. McCain resided in the home for more than 20 years. The McCains sold the home in 2006 for $3.2 million to Jane Popple, a Las Vegas-based real estate investor.

What was originally a vintage southwestern home has been renovated to become an extravagant Mediterranean villa. Additions to the home include a seven-car garage, a wine tasting room, an exercise room, a theater room, completely refurbished bathrooms, immaculately refinished wood floors and ceilings and a new guest home. Popple also added dozens of old world style Italian statues, fountains, and more than $1 million in Tuscan accented furnishings, oil paintings and accessories. This 15,000 square foot home was appraised at more than $12 million, and will be sold at any bid over the $5.9 million reserve.

McCain’s legacy is still visible throughout the home. A concrete slab near a secondary front entrance of the house exhibits where the McCains wrote their names in the wet concrete. The names of their two children, Meghan and Jack are also visible, as well as a series of tiny hand and footprints. The custom fireplace mantel in the master bedroom has the letters “McC” engraved at its corners. The hanging pot rack in the kitchen features two large anchors at its ends, paying homage to the Senator’s naval career, as well as three whimsical elephant heads that proclaim McCain’s republican political roots.
