Monte Hewett Homes’ Heatherton in Roswell Marks Change in Seasons
Atlanta new home builder, Monte Hewett Homes will mark the summer solstice at their luxury community Heatherton.
[USPRwire, Sat Jun 16 2007] Heatherton, Monte Hewett Homes’ luxury community in Roswell, will mark the summer solstice on June 21, 2007, with unique shadow points in the community’s formal maze.
“Heatherton’s maze is unlike anything we’ve seen anywhere,” said Monte Hewett, President of Monte Hewett Homes. “It adds formality to the community, and it gives residents a place to explore and relax. Meanwhile, it’s a civil engineering marvel that tracks time and the seasons.”
Referred to as “The Heatherton Folly,” the maze consists of two partially overlapping labyrinths. The larger labyrinth ends at the Solstice Spire, whose shadow marks the seasons. At the summer solstice, the spire will cast its shortest shadow of the year. At sunrise and sunset that day, the spire’s shadow will strike two black rocks just outside the maze. The only other day of the year when the shadow strikes these two rocks is at the Winter Solstice.
The second labyrinth ends at the Equinox Spire, whose shadow points mark the time. Developed by Harold Cuncliffe of the Pacific Group, the Heatherton Folly also marks Heatherton’s position on the earth, 83 degrees longitude and 34 degrees latitude, by the angular measurement between the stones that circle the two labyrinths.
The Heatherton Folly’s presence in Heatherton is much like the community itself – out of the ordinary, interesting, a little bit dressy and a lot of casual fun. Fewer than 100 buyers will have the opportunity to build homes in the luxury community, which has 14 two-story Courtyard Homes priced from the high $400,000s, 42 two-story Manor Homes priced from the mid $500,000s and 39 three-story Town Homes priced from the low $400,000s. Rich in Shaker, Colonial Revival and Williamsburg architecture, the homes recall a refined Southern manner while contributing a sophisticated style all their own. Each home features a rear-entry garage, so only the elegant, columned front porches greet guests.
In addition to the maze, Heatherton residents enjoy another park, a pool, sidewalks and direct access to GA 400.
Conveniently located near Holcomb Bridge Road and Georgia 400, Heatherton is as easy to reach as it is to love. Two entrances off of secondary roads and direct access to GA 400 South make it easy to avoid highly trafficked areas. To visit, travel on GA 400 North to Exit 7, Holcomb Bridge – Westbound. Turn left at the light at Old Dogwood Road and proceed up the hill. The Heatherton community will be on the left. For more information, call 678-538-3125.
