[USPRwire, Tue Aug 28 2007] The McCar Homes Greenville division is excited to begin construction later this month on a Greenville County Habitat for Humanity home. The entire Greenville McCar Homes staff, more than 50 people, will be involved with the project, donating more than 150 volunteer hours to construct the home, which is slated to be ready for move in by early December of this year.
“Everyone here is very excited about this project and can’t wait to get started,” said Tom Carroll, Division Vice President, who is coordinating the McCar efforts to build the home. “This is a unique opportunity for us as a building company to do what we do best. We are energized to begin the actual work, installing cabinets and baseboards, caulking the inside and outside of the home and painting, so that we can help a deserving family in our community get into a home of their own.”
The home, which will be 1,300 square feet, will have four bedrooms and two bathrooms, and will make the dream of homeownership come true for a single mother with five children in Travelers Rest at Travelers Gate. The house will be earned by the mother and her children, who must perform the 250 hours of “sweat equity” into building their home and the homes of others that Habitat requires.
McCar Homes Greenville is not only contributing their time, energy and skills to building the home, they are also assisting with funding. The division held a golf tournament this May, raising $60,000 to help fund the project.
