[USPRwire, Wed Jul 25 2007] The Community Association at Heron Bay Golf & Country Club recently hosted a luau with tropical-themed music, games and food for its residents. The luau, which was attended by approximately 400 residents, was organized by the Heron Bay social committee, which was formed in order to cultivate the sense of community within Heron Bay through regular events for residents of all ages.
The luau, held at Heron Bay’s three-pool aquatic center, was designed to not only be a fun summer activity for the children and adults at Heron Bay but also to help build strong bonds of community.
“The community association and social committee take pride in bringing together the residents of Heron Bay as a real community,” said Lisa Brutvan, Marketing Director. “The staff and residents alike at Heron Bay strive to create an environment where each of our residents know that they are a valued member of a group with shared interests. The luau was the perfect setting for residents to come together, and they had a great time spending the afternoon with their neighbors.”
The event was catered by Cabana Joe’s and included traditional huli-huli meatballs, tropical fruits and island style macaroni salad. Residents danced to the music of the incredible Hula Halau Kapilialoha, Atlanta’s only hula troupe, and the children participated in underwater games such as bowling, a scavenger hunt and limbo.
Stacey Skipper, a resident of The Springs at Heron Bay, attended the event with her two young children as a way to spend time getting to know her neighbors better.
“My children had a fantastic time at the luau,” said Skipper. “It was also a fun opportunity to enjoy the company of my neighbors.”
Heron Bay’s aquatic center, the setting for the luau, is unparalleled by any other facility in the area. It offers residents a place to relax, exercise, have fun and enjoy the summertime. It includes a shallow beach-entry pool with nine brightly colored, mushroom-shaped waterfalls, plunge pool with two spiraling waterslides, a heated six-lane junior Olympic-sized pool for extended swim seasons, two water lounge areas and a deck area with gorgeous landscaping.
The aquatic center is only one of the many amenities residents at Heron Bay Golf & Country Club enjoy, including the Lakefront Park, Tennis Center, miles of sidewalks and nature trails and the 5,000 sq. ft. Community Lodge with fitness center. Residents may also choose to join Canongate for play on the beautiful and challenging 7,300 yard, par-72 golf course, or take advantage of non-motorized boating on Henry County’s 1,100-acre Cole Reservoir, which is adjacent to Heron Bay.
