[USPRwire, Tue Aug 28 2007] Ghosts and Goblins, young and old, grab your favorite Halloween costume and race to the fourth annual Goblin Gallop to benefit Henry County’s Hands of Hope Clinic. Heron Bay Golf and Country Club, named the 2005 Community of the Year by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, will again host the annual Goblin Gallop on Saturday, October 27 at 5 p.m., an event the whole family can enjoy. Runners and walkers are encouraged to register now for this “spooktacular” event that raises money for a great cause.
Established in 2004 as a way to bring the community together while drawing awareness of and raising funds for the Hands of Hope Clinic, the Goblin Gallop has grown in size each year, and has been hosted by Heron Bay Golf and Country Club since 2005. Nearly $20,000 was raised in 2006 for the clinic, with hopes to double that number in 2007.
“We are very excited about the Goblin Gallop,” said Adam Stanfield, Executive Director of the clinic. “The Goblin Gallop raises much needed awareness of and funds for The Hands of Hope Clinic, which provides medical and dental services to over 30,000 adults and children in Henry County who do not have access to medical care. The event is a great way to create valuable community bonds while supporting the community and having a fun time. The event creates a meaningful memory for everyone involved and we are hoping for a great turn out this year.”
During the Goblin Gallop, guests are encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costumes. With something for everyone, there is a 6K run, one mile run/walk and a Tot Trot for children ages five and under. At the end of the day, everyone walks away a winner – having supported The Hands of Hope Clinic – and everyone who participates receives a t-shirt and ribbon. Awards will be presented after the race during a dinner catered by Shane’s Rib Shack.
Pre-registration is now being accepted for the race. The cost is as follows: 6K Run - $15, Pre-registration, $20 at the door; 1 Mile Run/Walk - $10 Pre-registration, $15 at the door and “Tot Trot” ages 5 and under, 60 yards – no charge.
Currently, sponsors are still needed for the race. There are various levels of sponsorship available beginning at $300 and all sponsors will be recognized during the event for their participation. For more information on how to become a sponsor, visit www.handsofhopeclinic.org or call Adam Stanfield at 770-507-1344.
The Hands of Hope Clinic was founded by Janet Turner and is a free Christian medical clinic in Henry County. The clinic operates at every Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 1010 Hospital Drive on the campus of Henry Medical Center. Its commitment is to provide any resident of the county who does not qualify for Medicare or Medicaid, has no private health insurance and who cannot afford to see a doctor with basic medical care and free medications as available. Hands of Hope Clinic relies on help from volunteers, doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, therapists, and other various healthcare personnel and is financially supported through its volunteers and charitable donations. All monies raised during the Goblin Gallop will support the clinic.
