Construction Continues on McCar Homes Greenville Habitat House

Work continues on the Habitat for Humanity home being constructed by the McCar Homes Greenville division staff.

[USPRwire, Thu Oct 04 2007] Work continues on the Habitat for Humanity home being constructed by the McCar Homes Greenville division staff. The entire Greenville McCar Homes staff, more than 50 people, are involved with the project, which began in August, and are donating more than 150 volunteer hours to construct the home. The 1,300 square foot home, located in Greenville County, is slated to be ready for move in by early December of this year and will make the dream of homeownership come true for a single mother with five children in Travelers Rest at Travelers Gate.

“I have really enjoyed the opportunity to be involved with this project,” said Don Scott, the builder for McCar Homes’ Forrester Heights community in Greenville. “It has been very fulfilling to be able to give back to the community and help out a deserving family by doing what we do best – build. I have especially enjoyed the hands-on labor aspect of the project, which gives you a good feeling at the end of the day from putting in a full, hard day’s work, for a great cause,” said Scott, who has been a McCar Homes employee for over six years.

The four bedroom, two bathroom home will be earned by the mother and her children, who must perform the 250 hours of “sweat equity” into building their home and the homes of others that Habitat requires.

McCar Homes Greenville is not only contributing their time, energy and skills to building the home, they are also assisting with funding. The division held a golf tournament this May, raising over $60,000 to help fund the project.

Chartered in 1985, Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County is dedicated to providing affordable homeownership opportunities to low-income families in Greenville County. A non-profit Christian organization affiliated with Habitat for Humanity International, the chapter has built more than 200 homes in Greenville County.

Dan and Elaine McSwain founded McCar Homes more than 50 years ago with a mission to build homes for buyers who desire the best homes in sought-after locations. Today, the company has grown from a hometown builder into one of the nation’s top builders and is ranked 39th by Professional Builder. McCar Homes has earned numerous national and regional awards. With an experienced team of professionals, McCar Homes sets a new standard for exceptional quality, innovative home design, outstanding amenities and customer satisfaction – building new home communities across the Southeastern United States including Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.
