Health & Wellbeing: Goji Berry, the anti-age food

Goji Berry, the anti-age food

We've heard it a million times, part of being healthy is to live a balanced lifestyle, including proper nutrition, exercise, sufficient sleep, and fluid intake. So why is it so hard to stick to? Simply because we need to understand the "why" before we understand the "how".

[USPRwire, Thu Sep 28 2006] Today's lifestyle contributes greatly to stress, causing free radical damage to our cells. Free radicals are unstable atoms or molecules that attack healthy cells thereby altering their chemical structure. Research now shows that free radical damage is responsible for accelerated aging and disease. Fortunately, our bodies produce antioxidants which neutralize free radicals. However, due to the excess demands we place on our bodies ie: poor diet, lack of sleep, smoke, alcohol, stress, etc…, we deplete our reserves and need to supplement.

Luckily Mother Nature provides us with foods that contain these antioxidants (some of which may even be considered super-foods) such as the Goji berry. The berries of the Goji plant (lyceum barbarum) have been treasured for centuries by the Himalayan people. These berries flourish in the tranquil valleys that are naturally protected by the Majestic Himalayan Mountains. The nutrient rich soil and fresh mountain air guarantee nearly perfect conditions for the plants to blossom. In fact, Goji has been found to be the most nutrient-dense food on earth! Scientists were awed to discover what this tiny red berry contains…(for goji berry nutrient content visit www.dnagojiplus.com)

Research is showing that eating a balanced diet consisting of high antioxidant fruits and vegetables may help prevent disease and premature aging by mopping up free radicals before they can cause damage.

Scientists at Tufts University have developed a scale called the orac (oxygen radical absorption capacity) test. This test measures the potency of antioxidants in foods. It has been suggested that humans should consume about 5000 orac units a day for maximum benefits. Unfortunately, we don't eat nearly enough fruits or vegetables nor the right types to achieve this. Goji berries score the highest of all fruits (25300 orac units/100 grams).

It is important to remember not only should we be eating high antioxidant foods, but also a variety that includes a full spectrum of antioxidants since different antioxidants have different effects.

Not only has Goji Plus cocktail been formulated to include a variety of the highest antioxidant fruits and berries but it contains one of the highest concentration of pure Goji Juice on the market. Never made from reconstituted or powdered goji, as this inevitably takes away from the nutrients. Goji Plus is made with real mother Goji berries that are wild grown and harvested and is certified chemical and pesticide free. As well Goji Plus is certified kosher and vegetarian.
