Arizona Orthopaedic Associates Surgeon to Discuss Hip Replacements
Free seminar to be held at Scottsdale YMCA on Dec. 7 to discuss surgical options for hip replacements
[USPRwire, Tue Dec 08 2009] Dr. Robert Berghoff with Arizona Orthopaedic Associates will discuss new medical advances in hip replacement surgery this month at the Scottsdale YMCA.
Arizona Orthopaedic Associates was the first practice in the state of Arizona to implement the anterior hip replacement, a minimally invasive procedure that increases mobility and decreases recovery time.
Dr. Berghoff will speak to the public during a one-hour session at the Virginia G. Piper Branch of the Scottsdale/Paradise Valley YMCA on Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. The YMCA Piper Branch is located at 6869 E. Shea Blvd., in Scottsdale.
Hundreds of thousands of Americans each year receive hip replacements with many opting for the traditional approach, which requires up to three months of recovery. Dr. Berghoff and his partners at AOA can also perform the anterior hip replacement, which cuts recovery time down to a matter of weeks and has the patient walking the same day.
AOA surgeons have performed more than 450 of these procedures since first implementing the program four years ago. The procedure requires a state-of-the-art operating table that allows surgeons to work through the natural interval between the hip muscles, thereby reducing complications and recovery times.
