New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg Chooses Tonya Blount to Host Phone Bank
Female volunteers will call to ask fellow New Yorkers to support one of the mayor's major principles for reforms, including providing the continued quality care and resources for D.V. victims.
[USPRwire, Fri Sep 04 2009] New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has selected social activist/performing artist, Tonya Blount to lead a network of volunteers for the 'Sister to Sister' phone bank on Thursday, September 10, 2009. The group will rally support from women of color to update them on the progress of the mayor's administration and discuss the upcoming election from 6:30 PM until 8:30 P.M.
The phone bank is one example of a strategy that the mayor is using to counter his critics and reduce the influence of misinformation. It is also an avenue to inform women of emerging legislation in New York.
"Many women are still unaware of how close the mayoral race is, and how important a strong turnout is in keeping the mayor in office, stated Ms. Blount. "The turnout for this election is crucial. Mayor Bloomberg absolutely needs every vote he can from women of color to win. It's our job to convey this information."
Female volunteers will call to ask fellow New Yorkers to support one of the mayor's major principles for reforms, including providing the continued quality care and resources for D.V. victims. The phone bank will be from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Mayor Headquarters. 111 West 40th Street (between Broadway and 6th Avenues). Supporters and volunteers are encouraged to RSVP via email to Lblackmon@mikebloomberg2009.com
