[USPRwire, Thu Aug 31 2006] Today, U.S. Presidential Candidate Daniel Imperato responded to growing concerns expressed by citizens of England on his global tour regarding Hurricane Katrina and the Iraq conflict.

Questioned by Englanders about the Bush administration’s overall objectives and policies, Imperato stated “US foreign and domestic policy is failing to handle these serious situations, thus causing a lack of respect and confidence in America’s international leadership role around the world.

On the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the citizens of London referred to the Bush Administration’s handling of the disaster as ‘Over the levy and under the bridge.”

Imperato agreed with their assessment and said “The administration’s failure in New Orleans was literally floodwaters cascading “over the levy’ and leaving a path of death and destruction that was unparalleled in American history. The administration hung New Orleans and the state of Louisiana out to dry, with one of the biggest reconstruction efforts in history without the proper resources.” British citizens said the Bush Administration ought to be ashamed of itself for allowing inexperienced politicians to lead a massive emergency recovery effort.

Imperato further stated that “While the local and state response to Katrina was lacking, the President Bush should have acted decisively to bring in a group of leaders with expertise in the areas of relocation, construction and redevelopment. Instead, they sought to mask their own incompetence and the lack of emergency response preparedness by blaming others.”

Ironically, UK citizens voiced a similar concern about U.S. policy in Iraq. Imperato said “Many Englanders feel that the Bush administration’s policies in Iraq are Under the Bridge. They believe President Bush has a personal agenda in Iraq pertaining to profit taking in the oil sector. Specifically, they pointed to futures contracts, and the shorting of oil stocks on a daily basis that has lined the pockets of friends and family without regard for the US and coalition soldiers.

“I find it disturbing that in the minds of many; the Bush administration’s Iraq policy is considered ‘Under the Bridge’ and destined for failure. Our policies in Afghanistan and Lebanon are being deeply questioned as well,” said Imperato.

“We need to act immediately to implement a strategic plan for Afghanistan, Iraq, and now Lebanon. My biggest concerns lie with the continuation of American and international troops who are in harms way.”

Imperato concluded his address with the following remarks: “After listening to the people of England and outstanding leaders like Victor Parness, it is incumbent on millions of the American people to question and hold our government accountable for its actions and policies. They must raise their voices for a change in our policies now, and vote for change in the 2006 and 2008 elections.”
