Imperato Reiterates Energy, Tourism While Campaigning Back in Panhandle

Imperato’s speech centered on his plan to bring investment for alternative energy development to Florida. Part of his energy plan released last month called for an advanced form of generating energy with fusion power. “It works especially well here in the Panhandle where we have military engineers who can stay in Florida to work. We can lead the country in generating clean energy in Florida within the next 20 years.

[USPRwire, Mon Aug 16 2010] Daniel Imperato returned to the Florida Panhandle again for the second time in two weeks. On Saturday he delivered an address to the firemen in Pace at the same time that President Obama visited nearly Panama City Beach. “Interesting that since I declared the beaches were white and criticized Governor Crist for not emphasizing that tourism is still viable in Florida, Obama comes to boost our state’s tourism and Crists campaign at the same time. It is almost as if Crist has decided to align with the Democrats in his quest for the Senate. I can only imagine the promises being made to keep the president’s party in the majority. Meaning that Crist is not a true independent.”

Building upon that would be a hydrogen fueled, elevated magnetic levitation hi-speed rail system to quickly cross the state faster and safer by train than by plane.”

He also called on his opponents to help plan and stage an energy summit among the manufacturers and distributors of energy and power in Florida. “We will be inviting specialists from all over the globe to display their amazing array of new technology that needs expanded. Clean fusion power fits in well with the overall vision for an alternative energy infrastructure in Florida. We know we cannot rely on the establishment parties who are bought and paid for by oil and fossil-fuel industries.”

On a follow-up call Sunday to clarify his contention that the Obama Administration was not as committed to alternative energy that they claim to be, Imperato pointed to a Washington Post article by Julian E. Zelizer. It states that Obama is merely carrying on George W. Bush policies such as relaxed offshore drilling restrictions in exchange for climate-change votes. Before the spill the article reports, “Ignoring the advice of scientific experts, the administration authorized an aggressive round of drilling in the gulf without adequate environmental review.” After the spill, the moratorium on drilling “has been far from airtight, with loopholes allowing several kinds of drilling to continue.”

Imperato finished by stating, “even if the voters of Florida do not select me as their Governor, these sound infrastructure improvements must be implemented. And I am willing to go to Tallahassee to assist the next state administration in carrying out these solutions.”
