Dr. Marion D. Thorpe, Jr. Salutes Patriotic Rapping Marine's Prose
Dr. Marion D. Thorpe, Jr., Candidate for Congressional District 23 (FL), joins the call to duty in seeking the identity of the gentleman simply known as the "Patriotic Rapping Marine." On August 14, 2007 Catherine Donaldson-Evans of the Fox News reporting agency issued a story asking for the identity and whereabouts of this gentleman.
[USPRwire, Fri Aug 17 2007] Dr. Marion D. Thorpe, Jr., Congressional Candidate for Florida's 23rd District, has joined the nationwide effort to identify the gentleman referred to as the "Patriotic Rapping Marine." Earlier today, Dr. Thorpe contacted the senior brass of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) to declare his participation in finding the individual seen in the popular YouTube video. "The words spoken by this gentleman are both eloquent and powerful. It is refreshing to know that younger generations in this nation still possess such time-honored cornerstones as strength of character, sense of honor, and unyielding commitment to the American way of life," states Dr. Thorpe.
The "Patriotic Rapping Marine" begins his 3 1/2 minute-long YouTube video with the words, "And she called...Blacks, Whites...wait African Americans and Caucasians, Asians, excuse me. Vietnamese, Philippines, Koreans and Jamaicans or Haitians, waitin' Hispanics y'all..." To date, the video clip has garnered nearly half a million views. Dr. Marion D. Thorpe, Jr. attributes the popularity of the "Patriotic Rapping Marine" not only to this gentleman's mastery of the spoken word and human condition, but also as a backlash to national leaders who would have America "Tuck-tail and run for cover in the face of impending adversity."
Dr. Marion D. Thorpe, Jr. further explains, "America was founded and built by strong-willed individuals who possessed an undying sense of service towards making the United States a long-enduring great nation. From the original inhabitants of this land who fended for survival on a daily basis, to the English settlers who bravely defeated the old world empire, to the abducted Africans who refused to bow to the inhumanity of the whip, to the melting pot immigrants who risked life and limb to join the American Dream process, Americans have repeatedly demonstrated the very same patriotic principles put forth by the 'Patriotic Rapping Marine."
While Dr. Thorpe is hopeful that the "Patriotic Rapping Marine" will soon step forward, he also acknowledges the fact that we may never know the identity of this gentleman. "It may very well be a case of shyness or a strong ability to resist the trappings of fame that prevent the 'Patriotic Rapping Marine' from making his identity known at this juncture. Rest assured, if he does step forward, it will be my honor to personally introduce this gentleman to the young men and women of Florida's 23rd Congressional District, many of whom are in severe need of positive role models who embrace the American way of life," states Dr. Thorpe.
