Sixth Annual Ogden Arts Festival to Feature More Than 70 Artists

The Sixth Annual Ogden Arts Festival will be held at the Union Station in Ogden, Utah, Friday evening, June 12 and all day Saturday, June 13, 2009. It is free and open to the public with displayed artwork, live music and film screenings.

[USPRwire, Thu May 28 2009] Art enthusiasts will gather to enjoy the talents of more than 70 local and regional artists’ work at the Sixth Annual Ogden Arts Festival at Union Station in Ogden, Utah, Friday evening, June 12 & all day Saturday, June 13, 2009.

Free and open to the public, the annual festival fills Historic Union Station with artwork from the festival’s Plein Air Paint-Out, Plein Air Quick Draw and the Weber County High School Art Competitions. Outside on 25th Street, local artists, food vendors, live performances and kids ARTivities will line the closed street. Attendees can also see short films by Foursite Film Institute.

“The Ogden Arts Festival and our Plein Air competitions truly showcase the amazing talent and historic landmarks that make our area great,” said Suzy Dailey, director of the Odgen Arts Festival. “We are so pleased that strong community support continues to make this festival an annual tradition in Ogden.”

In addition to artists’ booths, attendees will experience the festival’s signature Plein Air Paint-Out and Quick Draw competitions. A timed event, Plein Air competitors arrive with a blank canvas and in just a few hours paint a local landmark/scene, frame their piece and return for judging.

These pieces are then ready for viewing Friday evening during the Festival Kick-Off and throughout the Festival on Saturday. These beautiful and freshly painted pieces are available for purchase through the Plein Air Exhibit and Silent Auction concluding Saturday evening at 5 p.m. in the Union Station Grand Lobby.

Established to foster the talents of youth artists, the coinciding Weber County High School Art Competition will feature art work created by 10th–12th grade students in categories including two-dimensional art, three-dimensional art and photography.

The second annual Ogden Arts Festival by the Foursite Film Institute will include “Dinner and a Movie” on Friday ($10 per person) featuring short films by Foursite Film Institute. Tickets are available in advance at www.foursitefilmfest.com, or at the door. These films will run free of charge throughout the day on Saturday. Saturday evening will feature the award-winning film “The Long Look on Life,” beginning at 7 p.m. at the Union Station Browning Theater ($2 per person).
