Prita Chhabra to Headline Calgary's 2nd Annual India Fest

SOUTH ASIAN CANADIAN POP STAR TO HEADLINE FREE FESTIVAL IN CALGARY

[USPRwire, Sat Aug 14 2010] She’s the newest and hottest sensation on the Canadian music scene. Now, South Asian Canadian singer/songwriter Prita Chhabra will dazzle the Calgary audience when she headlines India Fest 2010.

Prita, who was recently nominated for a 2010 Toronto Independent Music Award, will be arriving in Calgary between a busy Summer touring schedule which has included stops in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, and Orlando to name a few. Her signature style combines R&B, pop, and South Asian influences to create a sound which is completely her own.

“I’m so excited about my first ever performance in Calgary,” says Prita. “India Fest and festivals like it are crucial to the celebrating of our roots - both Canadian and South Asian.”

India Fest is a free, family-friendly festival held at Calgary’s Shaw Millennium Park on August 29, 2010 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. The event provides a platform for both traditional and contemporary artists of South Asian music and dance.

“Prita is a strong role model,” says festival organizer Lata Patel. “Her performance at India Fest will inspire the next generation of artists to pursue their own dreams.”
