[USPRwire, Wed Sep 30 2009] Singer/songwriter Prita Chhabra has the distinction of being one of the first Canadian musicians, not to mention the first South Asian musician, to have a simultaneous CD and film release in the same week.
“Spread The Word,” Prita’s debut EP, is releasing this week on all major online retailers including iTunes and Amazon, and her self-directed short film “May God Be With You” about her HIV/AIDS study trip to Malawi (Africa), is having its world premiere at the 10th Annual ROGERS FILMI South Asian Film Festival’s shorts program.
Currently living between Toronto, Montreal and Orlando, Prita has had a busy Summer performing for over 2,000 people at Montreal's Just For Laughs Museum ; for over 1,000 people at Ottawa's Confederation Park ; for over 5,000 people at Toronto's Yonge & Dundas Square ; and at Canada's Parliament for key ministers and dignitaries, among dozens of other concerts and benefits.
Prita is also back in-studio recording her sophomore EP produced by Montreal fusion group JoSH. One of Canada's most successful music exports, JoSH often perform for tens of thousands across India and Pakistan, and are frequent collaborators with Nelly Furtado.
