NorthWest Crossing Included in Urban Land Institute Best Practices Book

Prestigious book lists Bend, Oregon neighborhood in top 48 in the world

[USPRwire, Thu Nov 19 2009] NorthWest Crossing, a mixed-use Bend, Oregon neighborhood, today announced that it has been included in a new book published by the Urban Land Institute entitled “Best Practices in Development: Award Winning Projects 2009.” The book profiles 48 top development projects throughout the world, all of which were selected as finalists in the ULI Awards for Excellence.

“The Urban Land Institute considers projects from all over the world for its programs, so to be included in this international publication is a great honor,” said David Ford, general manager for NorthWest Crossing. “We have paid close attention to designing and building a sustainable community that really ‘works’ for its residents, and being recognized this way confirms our commitment to thoughtful development.”

The illustrated, hardcover book came out this fall and includes photos, a development story and statistical data on each project. Projects were selected based on financial viability, the resourceful use of land, design, relevance to contemporary issues, and sensitivity to the community and environment.

The book is available at the Urban Land Institute’s Web site at www.uli.org.
