Jeremy Boz Goes To Prison - To Perform For Inmates
[USPRwire, Mon Oct 29 2007] Spinville recording artist, Jeremy Boz recently gave the most unique performance of his career; an appearance at the CCA Metro-Nashville Detention Facility as part of the Jericho Program.
In a place seen as grim and intimidating, Jeremy's experience was anything but. "The prison staff made us feel welcome and comfortable," Jeremy said. "At first, the inmates were seated and quiet, but you could feel the excitement in the room. You could tell they were happy to see us. Most of the inmates stood and danced during the entire show, all having a great time." At the end of the visit, inmates asked Jeremy to autograph the only personal possession allowed in the room, their bibles.
The Jericho Program, organized by the Men of Valor in conjunction with Corrections Corporation of America, provides faith-based rehabilitation services to qualified inmates. In the two part program, inmates reside in dorm-like quarters separate from the general inmate population for six months prior to their release. After leaving the institution, they have a 12-month aftercare program to assist in their return to society.
The Jericho Program emphasizes the need for restoration with God, family, community and society. Similar programs have decreased recidivism rates to as low as 10% in other institutions.
