HURLEY ANNOUNCES DANA HILLS HIGH SCHOOL AS WINNER OF FIRST ANNUAL


Students to be awarded with live performance from popular band Greeley Estates on June 8th.


[USPRwire, Tue Jun 06 2006] Hurley (www.hurley.com), the leading global youth brand with strong roots in surf, skate, art and music, today announced Dana Hills High School as the winner of the first annual Hurley “Walk The Walk” fashion show competition, which brought over 600 visitors to Hurley’s Corporate Headquarters in Costa Mesa, CA on Thursday, June 1, 2006. Continuing the Hurley spirit of supporting today’s youth and emerging artists, Dana Hills students will enjoy a live on-campus performance by popular rock band and 2005 Vans Warped Tour favorites, Greeley Estates, on Thursday, June 8, 2006.

Along with Dana Hills, Hurley invited Laguna Beach and Newport Harbor high schools to participate in the competition. Each school was provided with the same pieces from the Hurley Fall 2006 mens, young contemporary and swim collections to create and present their own five-minute fashion show. The schools
were responsible for styling the outfits, creating an overall theme, providing models, styling hair and make up, accessories and shoes, as well as overseeing the production, music selection and event promotion. Laguna Beach presented first with an colorful “Street Scene” concept, where models showcased graffiti-
inspired Hurley designs; Newport Harbor followed with a spirited “Yearbook” theme; and Dana Hills kept the energy high with “Believe in…,” which brought Hurley-clad models with inspirational words “tattooed” on various body parts to the stage.

All three schools were so creative and presented such amazing shows that it was difficult to choose a winner. It was great to watch everyone enjoy the experience,
from the kids on stage to their friends and family cheering from the bleachers. “Walk The Walk” was a tremendous success and will become one of Hurley’s annual events to be expanded across the country.”

As part of the event preparation, students were invited to the company’s headquarters to fully experience the Hurley lifestyle. Students were able to tour the campus, meet the marketing, design, creative and senior management teams, view Hurley commercials, and preview the 2006 Fall and Holiday collections. Hurley also provided the participating schools with invitations and posters to promote the event, along with a $200 cash allowance to cover accessories, shoes and miscellaneous expenses.

Each fashion show was judged on a ten point scale based on the following criteria: overall vibe, crowd support, flow, creativity, energy, hair and makeup, school spirit and illustration of Hurley’s brand message. Competition judges included Hurley founder, Bob Hurley; Hurley senior vice president Paul Gomez; Hurley spokesmodel and muse, Rosie; surfer and Hurley team rider, Brett Simpson; celebrity stylist, Deda Coben; runway and print model, Gaby Hurst; and skateboarder and Hurley team rider, Kris Markovich. Music was provided by DJ Pubes and Street Drum Corps. drummer, Bobby Alt.

Hurley’s “Walk The Walk” fashion show competition will become an annual event at the corporate headquarters, with plans to expand the campaign concept to other locations across the country on a quarterly basis. Hurley also hosts seasonal fashion shows at its headquarters and has participated in LA Fashion Week.
