Former General Electric Blue Collar Worker Self Publishes Two Books

After his retirement in 2003, Robert Elias Ballard helped his local library compile and publish a local book as a fund raiser. It was while helping with this project Ballard became interested in writing. Following the suggestion of a friend, Ballard decided to self publish the stories and tales he had written about his growing up years.

[USPRwire, Fri Mar 12 2010] Robert Elias Ballard is a retired blue collar worker having worked for GE Outdoor Lighting in Hendersonville, NC for nearly 30 years. Upon his retirement Ballard helped with a library project and developed an interest in writing. He is one who enjoys listening, reading and telling short stories and has recorded many of the ones he has heard over the years in this volume and written some of his own about the people and places familiar to him.

Ballard's first book is Familiar People and Places in Green River Township and is a collection of 40 stories and tales. Many have humor and there is an overview of the cotton mill and village where Ballard spent his growing up years. Ballard includes a chapter called A Tragic January Morning where he shares the tragic death of two of his classmates and the fire and Rescue Department created as a result of the horrific house fire that claimed their lives.Ballard also shares his school days at Tuxedo Elementary School and a chapter is devoted to The Lunchroom Ladies.

Ballard book also has chapters about his son Gary who is visually impaired and stories about his dad that will seize the compassion of readers.

Short Tales by "The Putz" is Ballard's second book and he uses his nickname,"Putz Ballard" as the author, a name given by son Gary. this is a collection of 48 short tales and stories about life events and has humor and though provoking stories with which many will resonate. Bloom Where Your Planted is the first chapter and Ballard shares some of his disappointments and failures and offers encouragement to others just to be themselves.
