Five Novels With Humor Top Publishing List


McNeil and Richards, a new literary house, is publishing six books during this winter and spring. Five are novels with a strong current of humor running through them.


[USPRwire, Tue Jan 26 2010] Available now are: We’re Having a Heat Wave, a novel by Daniel Breeze about a television weatherman in Toledo, Ohio, who discovers, after his computer is struck by lightning, that he has a link to Heaven and all his forecasts come true. The weatherman soon learns there is a downside to his good fortune.

3D in Print, by John Gilhooly, is a nonfiction book that shows how 2D print media can effectively use 3D to add excitement to their content. Dozens of full-color illustrations are included.

Also to be published this winter and spring are:

Smokey and Boomer, the story of a struggling cat (Boomer) who suddenly finds himself with a new family and on probation. Boomer has a hard time adjusting and finally runs away on a cold and snowy Christmas Eve. (There is a happy ending.) The large-print book is aimed at children and adults.

The Perfect Candidate, by John Westin, is the story of a politician who is hiding secrets. Two competing reporters team up to find out the truth about Harry Jerome. (Westin is also the author of The Anchor War and Stealing the White House.)

Brains, another Daniel Breeze novel, is the story of a ragtag team of fun-loving Chicago intellectuals and pseudo-intellectuals who battle other Brains team for a chance to compete in the biggest game of all, the Brains Bowl.

The Spy Book, by John Westin, is a humorous novel about a reluctant sleeper agent for the Soviets who is forced to trick a University of VIrginia economics professor into writing a book analyzing the crumbling economy of the Soviet Union in 1990. The Soviets think some fresh ideas might turn their economy around.

Two other books by John Westin are already available online. In The Anchor War, three TV network news correspondents battle to win a prestigious anchor job as the first war on Iraq rages in 1991. Stealing the White House is about an effort to stop a losing candidate from stealing the presidency in the Electoral College
