Computer Networking Careers Expected to Boom

Employers will be actively seeking employees with the proper computer training for positions in nearly every industry.

[USPRwire, Fri Aug 03 2007] The government recently released statistics through the Bureau of Labor Statistics that indicate there will be explosive growth in the need for computer network and data communications analysts through at least 2014. Employers will be actively seeking employees with the proper computer training for positions in nearly every industry.

The continuing need for computer training for these network positions is a result of the difficulty of going offshore with this particular type of work. While database management and some other functions can be handled easily overseas, computer networking requires on-site, hands-on attention. With companies increasing the size and complexity of their networking systems every few years, the need is obvious.

Stan Banks, president of Virginia College Online, notes, “We are seeing tremendous interest in our Network Management and Management Information Systems programs. With growth in this field estimated to hit 58% in the next seven years, we are constantly improving our computer training to ensure properly educated, technically savvy graduates.”

He also observed, “With this increase in need comes competition. Many individuals who have associates degrees from technical or proprietary schools are now realizing that there are distinct advantages to receiving a bachelor's degree as well. It's one way they can compete for the best positions and quickly advance their careers. Computer training isn't stagnant. A bachelor's degree while you are working indicates you are keeping abreast of the latest developments and learning the newest technology.”

Banks pointed out that while many technical schools have fine associates degree programs, not all colleges or universities will take the transferred credits. Virginia College Online will consider and review the coursework from any program at no obligation in order to help potential students determine how much of their computer training will be transferable to its bachelors degree program.

“Networking and Data Analysis specialists are in such demand today that those with the proper computer training will be able to choose a great position virtually anywhere with a great income,” said Banks. “With the demand increasing every year, a bachelor's degree in Computer Networking is one of the best career moves you can make.”
