Gemological Appraisers of America Expands, Opening State-of-the-Art Facility
New Equipment Puts Tampa on the Map with New York City’s Diamond District
[USPRwire, Tue Oct 06 2009] Gemological Appraisers of America (GAA) is officially open for business in its new state-of-the-art facility in the Westshore area of Tampa. A full staff of Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in-residence graduate gemologists is on hand to provide quality gem analysis and evaluation, and the new office houses some of the most advanced technology available in the United States.
The new equipment includes a Sarin DiaScribe system, a laser machine that allows GAA to inscribe virtually any text or logo onto the girdle of a polished diamond and a Sarin Colibri Colormeter that uses high-tech LEDs and software algorithms to calculate color and measure fluorescence with the highest accuracy. This equipment can only be found in a few cities across the United States.
“Opening the new facility in the centrally and conveniently located Westshore area has really allowed us to build on our strengths and expand our technological abilities,” said President Hank Terry, GG. “We are thrilled to have this type of equipment at our fingertips now for our clients.”
As a third-generation gemologist, Terry has been providing independent appraisals of diamonds, fine jewelry, gemstones, vintage jewelry and other jewelry to both professionals and the public for over sixteen years out of the original GAA office in Clearwater. He worked as an on-site independent jewelry appraiser for Kay Jewelers, Jared, Zale’s, Bailey Banks and Biddle Fine Jewelers and many others. His son Jon, one of the newest members of GAA, graduated top of his class and earned the coveted Graduate Gemologist degree from (GIA) in-residence, making him a fourth-generation Terry-family jeweler.
