The business, founded in 2009, has received some funding from North East based online incubator, White Knight Projects, who has backed the idea from the start and helped in terms of financial investment and consultative skills. The business has high ambitions for 2010 and Managing Director Josh Lear has set his team a gross revenue target of £150,000 for the year, with an 80% profit margin.
The plan is to deliver more than £400,000 worth of bar stool retail sales to suppliers such as John Lewis, Furniture123, Furniture Village and other well known furniture retailers based in the UK. Although the business's targets are high for a first year, Mr Lear said that "they were achievable and our research has shown that demand in the home furniture and kitchen dining vertical will continue to grow as house movers look to consolidate existing setups. We belive that the year should show real growth over 2009's figures and we are confident that the majority of this will come from customers looking to buy bar stools".
The model, he insists, is unique in its sector and offers real value to customers who can now see, at the click of a mouse, the widest variety of kitchen bar stools online and all from one website. By providing its user with a price comparison search engine that allows users to search by various criteria Mr Lear believes the Bar Stools Uk website offers more value than traditonally found in online furniture sites because it has the ability to compare prices across a wide range of suppliers.
